On September 10, 2005 four of the pups were run in a Natural Ability Test in Saskatoon and all passed. Two others had passed in June in Alberta. Another had passed in Utah in August. Hence all 7 pups that ran have passed, four with a Prize I. This litter received a Progeny Performance Award. We thank all the owners for the effort they took to run their dogs, some driving long distances to do so.

Grackle Ciperro was bred to Sunnynook's Macaw "Mac" in mid April, 2004. This photo of the proud parents was recently featured in GunDog magazine.

The Sunnynook S litter was born on June 5, 2004 at 3 A.M. Grackle was surrounded by many caring vets and students at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine who helped her have them by a planned Caesarian section. 7 females and 3 males were born. Grackle and all the pups came home at 6 AM. The photo above was taken on June 18.

Note that neither Grackle nor Mac carry BHFD based on DNA testing and hence all the pups are not carriers. Grackle is heterozygous for brown, however. Some pups do carry brown therefore.

The pups spent most of their time in their outdoor kennel but were "transported" to the house during their first 3 weeks to spend a few hours inside, so that they become more used to people and activity.

The Father's Day portrait at Sunnynook Kennel shows grandad Jupp (11) on the left, father Macaw (4) center, and 2 week old S__ male pup at the right.

The photo and table below shows the ten pups. 9 pups have gone to their homes, including the female who will remain here.

10, right green female roan Szeta
11, right aqua female roan Sunny

Skelly has left for Michigan. Sable is off to Calgary, Alberta. Saxon Schatz will live in Idaho. Sunny has moved to Utah. Szeta will live in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Shadow has moved down the road to join 3 other LMs. Samwise stayed in Canmore, AB with his family for a few weeks before they all moved to Saskatoon. Siskin moved to nearby Delisle. Sora and Squirt are staying here.

The pups were 5 weeks old here. The heat of summer had set in and so they enjoyed the cool shade near the kennel building. The oak barrel added extra coolness as the water seeped out. Grackle also finds this barrel handy for "chilling the milk truck"! Althought the pups began eating food at 4 weeks they still think a passing snack from Mom is a great treat.

Squirt, Szeta and Sora are demonstrating "pointing the pheasant wing on a stick". This photo was taken about 10 weeks of age.
